I've lived in the U.S. over 40 years now and still laugh when I hear my fellow Yanks say that word. It's going to be GREAT to see everyone, but in terms of anticipated results from the panel, I think we need to temper our enthusiasm a bit. I've done few of these and they seldom result in ANY songs getting taken home by the pros (Andy here is one of the few exceptions who did that at Tin Pan South recently. Way to go Andy!). Also (and I don't mean to be a kill-joy) but there also just isn't going to be much time to play many songs. Cam

CamMy enthusiasm is only for meeting my fellow TAXI members....I totally agree, Cam..... we should go with little or NO expectations. My Nashville plan is only to drink Mojitos (if I can find them) with you guys and take my pen and paper along so that I can scribble down notes while the panel is talking. The meeting is gonna end up a spontaneous thing with events going the way they will, and I also agree that many songs may not be played, including mine, hehe.

Yeah, I don't think anyone should be getting their hopes up too high. I've gone to so many pitch meetings and had more passes than a stock car with a flat tire. Everyone should be thinking about this as meerly educational...the only difference is it's coming straight from the horse's mouth (which is cool). The best part of going to pitch meetings is to learn what other people are pitching and the publisher's response to them. That's more educational than any single critique from TAXI, NSAI, this forum or George Strait himself. It really opens your eyes when you're sitting in a pitch room in Nashville and you're hearing the other songs...you go "dang...I suck" I'm just now to the point where I feel some of my songs stack up and two or three that are definitely better than anything I've heard lately. (but that is the result of 2 years of driving to Nashville, getting feedback through TAXI, NSAI, SongU, etc. going to writer's meetings and reading books)...I have a thick head apparently. And yes, Cam, I did have a publisher take my song during Tin Pan South (and I'm happy to say I now have an open door policy with the publisher)...but it's all based on that one song. If I take him a crappy song one time I'll shatter my reputation. It's like a little seed and the only way to make it grow is to water it with the best water I can find.Andy
