Christmas Forwards

Post by Tozza » Wed Oct 09, 2013 5:42 pm

Hi folks...my first real post here, just finding my way around and thought it was time I got involved a bit more! I certainly don't have the hang of everything yet... but I submitted 3 songs to the listing below and got two of them forwarded; when the publisher contacted me I mentioned the other one that just 'rejected' and he listened to that too. I have just signed my first ever contract and now crossing fingers for a Christmas bonus!

I'm also just finishing off a couple more Christmas originals and the publisher is interested in them too. maybe I should just write Christmas stuff all year round! :D

Here's a link to all the songs for anyone who is ready to hear a load of unseasonal (right now) stuff: https://soundcloud.com/oneumbrellastudi ... h-the-gent , https://soundcloud.com/oneumbrellastudi ... -christmas , https://soundcloud.com/oneumbrellastudi ... d-sing-for

A couple of reworks and an original. It's kinda nice to get something heading in the right direction...it's certainly helping to dull the pain of all the returns! :D

ORIGINAL or PUBLIC DOMAIN Christmas Songs **and/or** Instrumentals are needed by the Owner of a very successful Music Library for Film/TV Placements. Your songs can be in any genre, but be SURE to stay true to the original melody and lyrics of the song if you're covering a Public Domain Song or Instrumental. Tracks MUST SOUND CURRENT, as these will be used for contemporary projects. Got a ukulele version of "Silent Night" that's got a raspy, but really cool vocal on it? Send it in! Got a piano/cello/vocal version of "White Christmas" that makes you want to light the fireplace and snuggle up with your loved ones? Send it in! But make sure whatever you send really stands out as cool and contemporaryÉ maybe even a little quirky if your vocal is unique and captivating. Above all, try to capture the spirit of the holiday. MALE or FEMALE vocals are BOTH okay if you're submitting Songs. All tempos are welcome. If you're submitting ORIGINAL SONGS, please be sure your lyrics and melody are top of the line, and have the same TIMELESS quality as any of the classic Christmas songs. Broadcast quality is necessary (excellent home recordings should be fine). Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics.

Absolutely superb, congrats on the forwards and return/forward, Tozza!

Your Jingle Bells rendition is incredible!

Good luck with these!

Wow, thanks guys! :D

We just loved working on Jingle Bells once we decided to turn it a bit minor-y! And when we read the actual lyrics we realized they so lend themselves to a dark treatment.

The weird thing is, the first time I submitted it to a Taxi listing, which specifically asked for unusual takes on traditional songs, it was returned with the comment that it wasn't different enough.... :D

Onwards and upwards!
