Chill Wave

Post by jacrig777 » Sun Oct 13, 2013 12:35 pm

I came up with this trying to emulate the style of Washed Out's "Feel It All Around." Would love to know any thoughts, comments...Thanks!

Hey jacrig777,

This is definitely CHILL. ;)
I like the mix and your use of the stereo image.
I don't know if this is good advice or not, but maybe it would be interesting to try taking a 16 bar section and adding to the melody so that it starts "away from the root" and ends at the end of the 16 bars "on the root" making for a nice clean start/stop for the video editors. Then as the 16 bars repeat simply add more elements like you already have here, making it build.

After you do that, call it done, and pitch it!

I hope that helps,
John

Hi John

Thanks for your thoughts. That's a cool idea, I might just give it a shot.

I actually didn't write this for any specific pitch - was just trying to cop a Chill Wave vibe - but we'll see what comes along.

Best,

Jason

Hey Jason,

Yea, if you do that and finish it up and it fits with the style of the referenced artists in listing TAXI # Y131105TH then PITCH IT! For most of us the hardest part once we get to a point in our music career is the SHIPPING. It will never be "perfect" and it doesn't need to be (I'm talking to myself here too). Worst case you spend $5 for a no and maybe a small amount of feedback.

Hope that encourages.
John

You going to the Rally? If so, I'd love to meet up if just to say "hey, I remember that forum post" ;)
