First Post..

Post by bod1 » Sat Oct 12, 2013 11:50 am

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post on TAXI, and I would be really grateful for any feedback on this track. It's the first instrumental I've attempted and I'm submitting it for a 'futuristic lounge instrumentals' listing. Am I in the right ball park? Is it the recording quality ok for this listing?

Thanks

Adrian

Hello Adrian,

I'd say definitely pitch it, there's no reason not to.
First I would clean up the mix. All you really need to do is tighten up the EQ on that bass and move things out of the way of each other. You may want to try also replacing the bass with a more 'plucky' and shorter bass sound instead of those longer sustaining bass notes.

Just some thoughts ... :)

I hope that encourages,
John

Hey Adrian,

I am not sure this is the tune for this pitch. Its closer to the Chillwave vibe of a listing that just closed in the last week - Oct 9 actually.

I think the futuristic lounge instrumentals are supposed to be a little lighter, kinda kitschy with retro elements, but together with a more modern mix sound.

the main thing is to check out those artists on spotify that are listed in the a la's of the listing. If you listened to snips of 30 of those tracks on spotify or iTunes, then played yours and it still fit in the same ballpark, then you can pretty sure that its a good pitch. Up to you.

Regardless, I agree with John, you could make things a little clearer and let each part have a little more defined part of the sound field with a little more eq'ing and panning choices, but its decent as it.
