Strike Zone changing

Post by chrisbee » Sat Nov 16, 2013 8:24 am

I've never come out here to complain before. I haven't always agreed with the screener, but feel they are almost always correct to return something to me. And I usually see their point even if I don't necessarily agree. But I had an orchestral song returned yesterday for D131029OC because according to #355: "I actually liked your arrangement, but the synth samples were so bad (unrealistic sounding) I couldn't forward it." Here's part of the Listing: "...Be sure that your compositions showcase a similar approach to score as the referenced Composers, with realistic orchestral samples, and great programming skills."

However, the same screener, #355 forwarded the same piece 11 months ago for #U121211UN - a VERY similar high bar listing. Here's a quote from the listing: "...then GROW into a BIG, expansive cinematic feeling that 'ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.' Your piece should be at least 1:30 long. Instruments MUST sound real and authentic. Production must be top notch!"

These were both high bar listings and I am confused by the inconsistency by the screener. My apologies for the anger I exhibited in how I phrased my original post beating up #355. But I am confused - if a song is good enough to forward to a client willing to spend $20K, but then 11 months later isn't good enough - correction, "is so bad (unrealistic sounding)" you can't send it to a production company that has access to some big things, etc... Well, I want to know what changed. I'm trying to reach a bar, thought I did, then someone moved the bar. My apologies to you for my angry words, #355 - peace to you and your family.

I had 355 return me on the same listing with a strange comment. Must have been having a bad day.
