Thanks!
MUSIC SUPERVISOR working on a feature film based in the 1990s needs Mid-to-Up Tempo ALT ROCK GRUNGE SONGS with MALE vocals in the general stylistic ballpark of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Nirvana. Basically, she wants songs with attitude and edge. Your songs don't have to have been recorded in the '90s; but they need to sound authentic enough that they'll pass for the vibe and tone of the era. Please check out the following reference tracks as a guide for the type of sound that will work:
"Alive" by Pearl Jam: http://bit.ly/8mF0Gv
"Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden: http://bit.ly/b1ZplO
"Lithium" by Nirvana: http://bit.ly/8DuD6S
Quoting the Music Supervisor: "I'm looking for the Seattle Grunge Sound. This is a coming of age film about a troubled youth trying to find his way. There will be a lot of torn jeans and flannel shirts in this film."
She needs songs that are a blend of Hardcore Punk, Heavy Metal, and Indie Rock with heavily distorted guitars, big dynamics between verse and chorus, and growling lead vocals. Don't be afraid to stomp on the fuzz box for this pitch, and let your feedback blossom into something musical. Turn your amp up to eleven, and rock out like you're trying to piss-off your parents! Your songs should be loose, but driving, with lots of attitude and maybe even some anger.
Your lyrics should be apathetic or angst filled, but keep them universal and PG-Rated. Lyric themes about being a social outcast, apathy, being held down or oppressed, not fitting in, and wanting to find freedom or your own space will all work.
