The Britt List [just TEAsing folks! ;)]

Post by simonsays » Sun Dec 01, 2013 1:52 pm

A bit of whimsy I woke up with this morning. If anyone smiles ... then it was worth while IMO.

Song: The Britt List
by Steve Simon 2013

(Intro)
1) Tourist I was ...

(1st Verse)
1 I was on the trail -- of the upper crust
2 following bread crumbs -- ground to dust
3 foolishly reading from a fictitious list
4 about what it takes to make 'A Britt'

(Chorus)
1 Stiff upper lip -- check
2 Sarcastic sense of humus -- yes
3 No coffee break?
4 No! Not O.K !!
5 Tea & biscuit break?
6 Hey ... I say ... Nay!
7 Smile fixed in place?
8 No way! I can't play!!

(2nd Verse)
1 I'm tired of travelin' in a round-a-bout way
2 been goin' in too many circles today!
3 told some fellow diners I was stuffed
4 IMO, those Britts laugh way too much!

(Repeat Chorus)

(Bridge)
1 I guess Brittainy's ... just not my cup of coffee (glass of Burgandy?)
2 So like a frog -- hopping across the pond -- I go
3 Brittainy can keep its friggin' tea!
4 let's see how them Frenchies roll!

(Repeat Chorus)

Well ..... 'smile fixed in place' - a bit more USA than UK that one. for the British try 'He walks like a man who has soiled his small garments with an expression on his face like someone who has smelled it!'

Nothing like a good stereotype though. Could we not have some bowler hats and a Dick Van Dyke tribute for good measure? ;)

(By the way, Brittany is in the north of France!)

Hi Emily,
Thanks for checking this out. Yeah, I was trying to play with the usual stereotypes/ignorance here. I had hoped that would be made clear with the 'foolish/fictitious list' line.
I do actually know where 'Brittany' is Emily. (well, I know it's a province in northern France ... exactly where that province is located... I'm not so sure. ;))
'Brittainy', was used to play up the ignorance aspect I mentioned above. That, and 'Britain' doesn't rhyme with coffee! ;) I believe I alluded to this being something I dreamt up right out of bed. It was intended to be silly and irreverent. (Although that irreverence was intended more for non-Brits. ;))

But you disturbed my tea! Honestly, you Americans don't know what a tea party is, do you?

Funny Emily ... very funny! Personally I don't drink tea or coffee. I'm a self confessed chocoholic. A nice hot chocolate with some toast is more my style! I'm also a die hard Dr. Who and Blakes 7 fan. :D
