I like the Ren Bass and used to use it a lot but I so dislike the rabbit hole of Waves' upgrade process that I'll simply find other ways to accomplish the same thing. Waves makes good stuff but their business practices really keep me away from using it.

Take a couple of extra minutes to think about it before you get sucked into something that could potentially suck hours out of your life trying to get it to work. Seriously. Your time is worth more than that.

Good point Mazz.

Although, I know they haven't been that friendly with DP.

I have never had any issues with Logic or Pro Tools.

I feel the Rbass is specific enough of a plugin and works well enough that it's worth the headache. And I have others that do "similar" things like the UAD Precison Enhancer HZ and the sub bass fictions in Logic. Big surprise, they all sound quite different.

EDIT: I should say that the only way to truly eradicate problems with authorizations and such is to never use any third party plugins. It's an option.

Otherwise you have to be a compute geek and know what works with what, always have a working copy of your startup drive plus another archived and verified working "restart when everything blows up" copy of your startup drive.

Actually if you attempting to do this work for money the backup is pretty much required. You just don't have time to lose rebuilding stuff. That could lose you days.

My 2 cents.

I'm not talking about DP, once the plugins I bought (and not all the other plugins they make that I don't want to download but have to) are downloaded and installed, they work fine. It's their business process up front that I don't care for at all. There's plenty of other great sounding stuff out there that doesn't play their game. Maybe they are better now but they've lost me as a customer a long time ago.
