He's in immediate need of instrumentals that give the listener a sense of hopefulness, optimism, and enjoyment. Instrumentation can be a simple acoustic guitar and handclap combo OR full-fledged band-style performance, as long as the feel of the instrumental is emotionally upbeat and positive. a couple things to check out.

listen to the three ref tracks again, and see if they feel upbeat or kind of dissonant. which way does you piece lean?

the acoustic bass (samples I assume) seem to be sorely out of tune with the harmony??
