First time greeting on the Forum

Post by BarryBoston » Wed Jan 29, 2014 12:16 am

Warm greetings, fellow Taxi Forum members,

My name is Barry Gould and I've enjoyed meeting some of you and other possibly non-Forum Taxi members
at Road Rallies 2010, 2011, and 2012. [I've enjoyed meeting each one, not just some. :-) ] After some intense
life delays, and having to miss the 2013 Rally, I'm glad to finally be getting on the Forum and hope I learn quickly how to participate well. Please feel free to let me know if I do something strange or clumsy. I'm new to any kind of forum use.

A bit about me: As a Taxi member I've had some forwards and a library deal. I got into the music business as
a teenage keyboardist-singer playing jazz-fusion and pop, had one of my songs recorded by a jazz-funk band
in the UK as the single on their album, went to music school, arranged and performed on albums, music-
directed musicals, lived in Japan for five years while working with Yamaha as composer and consultant,
gave piano/keyboard concerts, etc. and in all of my adventures, did not really know how to find more uses
for my instrumental compositions, songs, and performing. TAXI helped me a lot to get a more accurate
picture of the current music business scene and what it needs. I tend toward Jazz, Classical, Trad.Film,
Gospel, CCM, Pop, Pop-Rock, and Soul.

Again, I've thoroughly enjoyed meeting you fellow musicians at the Road Rallies and learning various helpful and
encouraging tidbits from you. I look forward to hearing more of your music. Thanks for being open and friendly.

And thanks for reading,
-Barry Gould

Barry
Welcome to the forum!
Your resume is impressive. I also lived in Japan (for 1.5 years) on business, but unrelated to music (alas!). I did front a blues band while in Japan, which was an amazing blast!
Anyhow, I look forward to see your posts, hearing your music, and perhaps meeting you at the next rally.

Thanks Hector & Catherine.
I listened to your "A Song In My Spirit" and enjoyed your nice piano playing and harmonic progressions.

All the best,
-Barry

Thanks, Steve.

I listened to your "Call It a Day" and loved your guitar playing. I've enjoyed Robben Ford's playing so much for many years, beginning with the Tom Scott and the LA Express album TOM CAT, through the Yellowjackets, etc. including his straight blues. I think you were right on target in the genre.

All the best,
-Barry

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the encouragement. I enjoyed your guitar solo in "Waiting on the Lord".

Yes, maybe we'll be able to meet at the next Rally.

All the best,
-Barry

Hi Barry, welcome to the forums.

You certainly know your way around a piano. I particularly liked "Reflective."
"Puppy Polka" was fun to listen to, nice arrangement.

Thanks Russell. Thanks for listening. I enjoyed your excellent "Rise From Contemplation" and "Mach Preflight Mist". Very interesting sounds, transformations, builds, and professional feel overall.

All the best,
-Barry
