Screen 338 - how old are you?

Mid-to-Up Tempo, CLASSIC ROCK SONGS are needed by the Head of Creative at a Music Publishing Company for a very popular TV Drama. Songs that would be heard on the same Classic Rock radio stations as the Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, AC/DC, etc., are all great references for the general sound she wants. Be sure your songs have big anthemic hooks, driving rhythms, and rockin' riffs! Your vocal performance needs to be first-rate with an authentic spirit, attitude, and plenty of Rock swagger. Keep your lyrics universal and PG-Rated. Do not copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for texture, tone, and feel.

Dear 338,
I appreciate you guys and girls for what you do ... especially when I get a Forward :) ... Feb..18 was kind of a bad day with two listings and five returns. Ugh! The listing referenced was the second bit of bad news on the day so my Nirvana of Acceptance was out of juice. I'll leave it to others to tell me how wrong I am but at least two of the three songs I pitched are fairly precisely classic rock. One is a play on Cream's "Tales of Brave Ulysses" and has already been picked up by one library as authentic. And another is pretty on-the-money AC/DC and has also been picked up more than once. 338, if you're a young person ... I'm jealous. If you're good looking ... I can't take it. Just be careful, 338, because I'm "authentically" from that era. If you just don't like the singer or the track then just say something about it bugs you but your comments like, "... we are seeking band/ songs in the likes of The Rolling Stones, AC/DC - authentic sounding Classic Rock," as a criticism of what we gave you is ... hmmm ... a little tough to take.
And this one, "reminiscent of AC/DC (vocally) - however not quite in the league with the referenced artists." If any of us pitching song were "in the league of referenced artists" we probably would be touring the world, recording albums and enjoying the gravy train. No point in putting us down for trying. Might want to work on your people skills and choose more encouraging putdowns.
I'm saying it with a smile ... TAXI is great and you, 338, are probably a good person. Thank you for you guys do to help us even if we're "not in the league".
Sincerely,
Terry

PS Here are the two songs if you're interested

These are really well done Terry, I especially dug Siren Dream. Sorry about the returns, bit of a headscratcher to me... :?

I answered this on the other thread... I would get in touch with Taxi and ask for clarification.

Good luck!

terry, you definitely captured an authentic vibe of acdc and cream. my only gut is that they might have been returned for the vocals. you had the right style for brian johnson and jack bruce, but maybe they just weren't quite strong enough, since it seems you were going for a bone stock sound-alike.

still, i feel your frustration since we grew up playing this stuff (guessing we are of a similar age). this same thing happens to me sometimes, and despite the high industry credentials of the taxi screeners, i too wonder about the age factor sometimes.

like eeoo, scratching my head.

Hey guys,
Thanks for your commiserating with me ... and the encouragement about the tracks. I'm looking forward to chilling out later and enjoying your tunes. Here's a bit of irony ... the day after I got this return, "Siren Dream" was Forwarded through a different listing. The screener said I (we) nailed the Cream sound. Haha! You have to have a sense of humor.

Salty,
Wow ... LOVED your music. I can't tell from your website where you're located. You have representation in Ojai and I live in Ventura. Just curious. Will follow you on Facebook and hope to get to a gig soon.
Really excellent stuff ...
Take care,
Terry
