I'm a blues musician born and bred, and the simple truth is, Willie Dixon was every bit as much a ripoff artist as Page and Plant. There is a long and storied tradition of recycling bits of lyrics and melody in all folk styles, and particularly the blues; the litmus test is you take from the past, but did you transform what you took? Willie Dixon arguably did a whole lot less of a transformative nature than what Zep did. Willie Dixon took credit for a lot of stuff he didn't write, lines that had been floating around the bluesosphere for literally decades before he copyrighted 'em. (melodies, too) His lawsuit against Led Zeppelin was an opportunistic money grab, and he only won on one count among many, and it ended up being because they used Hubert Sumlin's riff, not Willie Dixon's lyric, which was proven to have been used in many other songs. Given the nature of the bidness, I'm a little surprised Willie Dixon didn't get sued by his own record company for ripping himself off like John Fogerty-cuz, "How Many More Times..." has exactly the same notes in the same order as , "I Should have Quit You...". I guess he must have had an "in", there. /rant, and sorry for the threadjack, suz.

I'm loving Beck's cover of "Leopardskin Pillbox Hat".
