Re: Instant Mastering Website
Yeah I think you are right. Gravity sounds like the best mix I've done and that was not mastered. I need to go back and check what I have on the master insert. I spent hours on that song but ended up scrapping it but the mix is nice so uploaded it.
Nothing beats a great mix. And great sounding instruments are key with eq and some fx.

Re: Instant Mastering Website
You know, we've taken the concept of "mastering" and totally changed it into something else.
Really the concept behind mastering was to take separate songs and process them in a way that they made sense as a collection on an album.
Now it seems that "mastering" means "make this song sound like all the others out there in this genre."

Re: Instant Mastering Website
or we think mastering will greatly improve our mixes. the mix seems to be the key. getting that spot on..clean, clear and with a punch.

I've actually refrained from "mastering" a few cues lately that really needed the headroom instead of squashing them and making them !!!LOUDER!!!

Re: Instant Mastering Website
I'm using Cubase. All I like on the master is a maximizer (Fat Energy), Stereo Enhancer (Dance Master) and Magneto 2 (Drum Group 3).Russell Landwehr wrote:YES!GavinKMusic wrote:or we think mastering will greatly improve our mixes. the mix seems to be the key. getting that spot on..clean, clear and with a punch.

Re: Instant Mastering Website
ok gave it another shot with a new mix.
The first one has some basic inserts on master channel and the 2nd is the LANDR. I removed master inserts and set headroom at -10db. First track is shorter. 2nd I'm still working on and is a little longer but same mix. also should add that #1 is an uploaded .wav to SC and #2 is an uploaded MP3 to SC. dont know if that makes any difference..

#2: https://soundcloud.com/the-element-musi ... dr/s-ZA23N
which one do you guys prefer?
or maybe I should keep on paying a studio to master?
Thanks for any feedback. Always much appreciated!
