This one meant a lot

I have to credit recent Taxi feedback for influencing the direction on this one:

U140609SS

SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male OR Female vocals are needed by an A-List Music Supervisor working on an extremely popular TV series for a huge Cable Network. He’s searching for contemporary, acoustic-based, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs in the stylistic wheelhouse of artists like Mason Jennings, Gregory Alan Isakov, Sharon Van Etten, etc. Please check out the following songs to hear the tone, tempo, and vibe the Music Supervisor could use for this show: “Darkness Between The Fireflies” by Mason Jennings: http://bit.ly/1mSRYnB “If I Go, I’m Gone” by Gregory Alan Isakov: http://bit.ly/1kulvV3 “For You” by Sharon Van Etten: http://bit.ly/1tvtjqf Your Songs should have a deep, soulful, and honest feel with lyric themes that have an introspective, moody, or edgy attitude. Please do NOT submit Songs that are sweet, sappy, or overly sensitive, because they simply won’t relate to this show’s characters or storyline. Think of the types of bada$$ characters you’d find on gritty shows like Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, Justified, etc. Universal lyrics are needed for this pitch. Steer clear of references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, etc. General lyric themes about life, love, traveling, searching, right and wrong, etc., could all relate to this show’s storyline. Killer guitar/vocals could work, but you might increase your chances if you’ve got an organic sounding, small ensemble behind you. Your vocal performance should have an authentic, natural, gritty tone and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. The estimated license fee for this use is $1,000 - $3,000. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor pitch, so you'll keep 100% of your Master and Publishing rights, plus you'll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control 100% of the Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All songs will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a person hand picked by the Music Supervisor. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Songs no later than MONDAY, June 9th, 2014 by 3pm (PDT). TAXI #U140609SS

Very nice Joel. The style & vocal reminds me a bit of Steve Earle.

Good luck with it.

Thank you so much for the kind words and support. I will take any and all comparisons to the great Steve Earle! Continued success to you all.

Dear Joel,

I visited your Page, and listened to : "Let Not Your Heart" and I loved the way you sing. It is unusual and very endearing.

Beside, the Drawing Portrait of yourself is awesome. Thumbs up to the Artist ! It is a very good exposure strike indeed. One would want to listen to the Music from a Man with a Face like that ! :) ;)

Well, I did, and I was not disappointed.

Hector---that is very high praise coming from a musician such as yourself. I'm a big jazz fan, especially Latin, Afro-Cuban and Brazilian-influenced jazz. Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chucho Valdes, Ray Barretto, Horace Silver (RIP), Flora Purim and Airto, Danilo Perez...you get the picture. I'm honored.
