Most people, including me would want the cash, but the guitar is the smarter choice for you, for two reasons:
1. The guitar itself acts as a perpetual advertisement for the sponsor
2. The person winning it acts as a perpetual advertisement for not only the sponsor, but for Taxi A & R.
Cash gets gobbled up in a few seconds, and like Ethan said, the guitar lasts forever.

I would say : +1 The Guitar
Because the excellent reasoning of the Members who so far voted for the Guitar is very persuasive indeed. Their thinking is right.

The guitar sounds great IF it includes free shipping to the winner's house - the thought of trying to figure how to get that home on the plane is something I wouldn't want to have to deal with - especially with airlines not having the best reputation in caring for guitars in particular - I'd hate to have a broken neck without having had the chance to insure it! (not to mention the additional cost).

I want a PRS guitar, so, I'd say guitar. Seems like it would be good for the sponsor, members (I'm willing to bet most play guitar or wouldn't mind learning), TAXI etc. I think it's better for the photo/PR side of things too.

the guitar, for all the reasons others said. plus if paul reed smith signs it himself, a non-guitar player could always sell it on ebay.

Guitar, although getting it home safely COULD be an issue...I'd probably try to carry it on if I was flying Southwest, as they'd probably figure out a way to store it safely if I was persuasive enough.

I vote guitar! I suspect the guitar is worth more than $500, but then I'm primarily a guitarist. I can see that other players might feel a bit differently ... so possibly cash is the 'most fair' ?
