Until now, never heard of HICK-Hop... but I love it from the git-go.
Can I have a go at writing the lyrics (like my comment on the SC page)?

The track would need to move to some more dynamic shifts to accentuate where a pre and a chorus might go... but that shouldn't be a problem, eh?

Ya Know, Peter, A lot of die hard country fans are really hatin' Hick-Hop, but I'm (and Stuart too) really diggin' it.

This track and more to come are being created for a specific TLC show and they want instrumentals... but I am interested in developing this further... into the lyric/vocal realm. I've got a feeling Hick-Hop is the "next thing."

I think its great and well produced and fun. nice work fella

now I have a hard time restraining myself from my 2 cents....

and if it were me, i might look at the arrangement and look at building things up more fully, and breaking them down more fully. Like the change in hi-hats at 0:25 or so struck me as a down turn in energy but the tune felt like it should keep building at that point. Thinking of the existing instrumentation as set of layers to keep building things up with very repetition of the melody and then some place break it down a little, and then build it up. Could add a layer of claps someplace to keep building the rhythm etc.

related to the break down and build up, you might consider an edit point or two in the of the piece to make it more editor friendly (if this is destined for TV).

Ok... since this is new to me, cut me some slack for ignorant-sounding questions:

Does this genre necessarily have to lean heavily on the rap/dark side... like being about violence and crime; or can it encompass the uplifting traits of Bluegrass? You know... happy music. Fun songs.

If it's for a TV/film project, obviously the answer is gonna fall where the storyline is going.
But if you're also gonna venture out to the radio populous with songs & vocal harmonies, and lots of places where instrumentals breaks show off some hot musicianship...
then maybe there's room for it to appeal to a happier bent.

What's your take on that?

maybe to get noticed as an "artist" in this genre you tow the regular line, but for TV, as Russell says it could be a funny show 'bout rednecks and some lighter lyrical content might be spot on. of course if the company is looking for lyrics / songs instead of strict instrumentals.

Well... heehee... I do listen to a lot of Country and Bluegrass... and Tuesday I literally lost my front tooth!! I reckon I'm approaching the ballpark... or wheelhouse... or front porch...
