New Canadian TAXI member introducing myself

Post by dougamell » Thu Oct 02, 2014 12:12 pm

Hi, My name's Doug.
I did a ton of songwriting and work in a band in my late teens and early twenties, and then stopped to follow my present career path as a naturopathic physician.
I've recently come back to my long-suppressed love for songwriting and was recommended to TAXI as a vehicle for getting some songs out there. I've been here a month, and already learned the hard way, through well crafted critiques, how SPECIFIC the song listings are..They need to be read VERY carefully for exactly what is being sought. Now, my rejections are at least closer to the mark, with quite a few "you're very close" remarks lately, and ideas on specifics to tweak.

Thanks to all the great info from some of the regular posters here. You guys have been great.

All the best,

Doug

Thanks Andy,
I'm loving your instrumental guitar stuff by the way :-)
New Mexico's so beautiful. Not a bad place to leave Canada for.

Doug :)

Hey Doug! Wow, it's amazing to see you here :)! You might remember me. Jenn and I (Nathan) were the couple that brought our seriously auto immune child (Gideon) to you for years till we moved to Manitoba. I knew you were musical, but crazy seeing you on here. I haven't been around the forums for a little while due to my work, but I'll be sure to catch up here.

As an aside to the taxi family, Doug earned our respect when he was the first physician out there to actually help us make progress in our son's health. He's superman in my books and an amazing person :)! Cool to connect here on another level.

Cya around.

Nathan

You can't make music fun..... It is fun! You can however make it a drag.

Welcome Doug, I hope you enjoy Taxi as much as I have. Canada has produced many amazing musicians, including my favorite classic rockers ... The Guess Who.
