Music Library concern ...

Post by PeterD » Mon Nov 10, 2014 8:04 pm

Hey guys!!

Heard some concerning things about a particular library over the weekend. :?

I was told a Taxi member had some material in a library (where I also have some songs), that when searched, came up under a different composer's name.

I just did a search for my things on their site, and sure enough ... 1 out of 15 is under another composer. I'm hoping the remaining are linked to me as the writer, even though that info doesn't seem to be visible.

If the song had been placed, I surely wouldn't know about it, correct? If it was, and the other composer got the writer's share, do I have any recourse?

Also, none of these songs appear in my PRO. Do I need to register them, or does the library do that when they're licensed?

Where do I start?

Thanks
:D

Call or e-mail the library and get it straightened out, seems like your only option.

Yeah man, I'm with EO. I would call every day until they answer me.
You never know what any particular track's potential earnings will be and you don't want that headache I'm sure.

Good luck!

Yea, definitely get in touch and get it resolved. I would *NOT* call or email every day but if you don't hear back a few days after reaching out definitely try again.

If after multiple tries over a period of weeks you can't get their attention and they are a Taxi client, then maybe contact Taxi.

As much as it DOES need to be fixed, things do move slowly enough in this business that they can usually be corrected within plenty of time so as not to affect you financially. (Note the word "usually")...

Good luck!
:D Casey

Casey is totally right! That's the old sales training in me rearing it's ugly head. I'm used to hounding until people snap into shape. ;)

Yeah, Casey, a few of us discussed this with Peter at the Thai restaurant this weekend. We thought TAXI might want to know about them regarding future listings. (I've had "iffy" dealings with them as well)

The library owner hasn't replied since writing him on Tuesday, but the admin was quick to respond to another email (sent to a different address) and said she'd take care of it.

The other Taxi member said his issue would be taken care of several months ago. It still hasn't been resolved ... :?

My fingers slowly drum ... Hmmmm

Thanks guys!
