What is strange is that I ignored her for a while and she left me. I was heartbroken. I listen very carefully now to this gift and make no disparaging remarks.

I never complain about music is too much work, unrewarding, or anything negative. It helps to keep the process just so much fun, it is hard to stop giggling.

So how' s everybody doing now?

I'm writing, finding a whole new musical playground on the other end of the fingerboard...and getting sparked by my son, who's writing and arranging at 17. One of the better (although expensive) genetic conditions....music!

I so love reading this thread and wonder if others are still following it?

Hi Owen
Just taking this opportunity to tell you it was great meeting you and sitting at the same dining table with you Sunday nite at the rally. Just met you, but would like to add my voice to the choir of encouragement for you to continue making music. Looking forward to seeing you around the forum and next year's rally.

Yeah this is a two year old thread, but I find myself in that same spot as Owen initially described from time to time, and have done so most of my musical life. I guess everything has it's ebb and flow, same goes with music production, at least for me.

I've learned not to fight the ebb's too hard, but instead accept and appreciate those times too, and see where it leads. In the 25+ years I've been a musician, being in a valley has for me never lead to abandon music, instead it has provided sufficient distance so that I could work out a new perspective for my engagement with music.

In every practice we loose ourself for a while while diving deep into it, music and otherwise, so we need to come up for air and re-orientate or re-organize once in a while. I don't think thats sinful at all. Could in fact be a good thing.

So, coming from the cold, dark, Scandinavian outback, I say embrace the daaark (still, keep your blade sharp, just in case) :D

heh. Interesting to see this thread resurrected after seeing Owen's successes the past year or so, then meeting him in person at the Rally this year.
