My First Library Placement!!!

Post by CBOHN » Tue Feb 03, 2015 7:44 am

Well, it took a year of submissions, but I finally got a track into a library:

The owner of the library has said he's interested in more tracks, so I'm putting together a set of similar material to send along. I'm glad I stuck with Taxi!

Nice! :D

Hopefully they get licensed and don't just sit there in the library collecting dust ... Are they signed exclusive or non exclusive?

Good luck!!

It's an exclusive, so I'm hoping it doesn't gather dust. The library is pretty pro-active though, so it seemed worth it to sign the song.

Does anybody have any tips for working with a library once you've signed with them?

That's cool.

I wouldn't hound them, but ask if they need any other types of music. Maybe some that you already have? Send your library contact a link to soundcloud or other streaming sight so they can check out the material. They'll let you know what they want. Again, don't hound. Check in about 3 times/year or so. Anything more than that (unless they reach out to you) might be pushing it.

Maybe don't give them all your best stuff. Hold off for another connection. Then again, you can always write more ...

Remember this too ... If the library is ok with you pitching your exclusive material to interested parties, and having them go through the library's channels, you'll be assisting them (the library) in finding placements for your songs (even though you'll be doing more work for whatever your royalty split is). Anything to get a song earning money, right?

Good luck!

Nice work, sounds awesome too.

Out of interest, did you change the track at all based on previous critiques?

Kevin.
