Radio air play

Post by the1lyricistmm » Tue Mar 31, 2015 4:49 pm

I need help so I brought my questions to the wise people on the Taxi forum. :)

I was approached by a local radio producer about playing three of my songs on a weekly radio show for unknown or independent artist. I know BMI, ASCAP, etc will collect the royalties for the songwriter/songwriters if the song is entered into the song category of any of the performing rights organization.

So my questions are the following: What about the vocalist? Do they receive any royalties? How do they collect any royalties? Does the vocalist need to be signed up for a particular organization to collect their royalties? I want everyone who has helped me with the three songs to get what is deserved for their hard work and dedication.

Any help would definitely be appreciated from me. I want to make sure I have as many of the answers to those questions before I start approaching everyone involved. Thank you.

Mary
