Last hoorah for awhile--A/C Forward

Post by heinsite » Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:44 am

before i chose not to re-up my membership this time, i submitted my "best" most "professionally" produced tunes.alll came back, but one--my When the Devil's In The Details got forward as an A/C listing, when it's clearly at best a crossover, but we NEVER throw them back. The critique was just what I would critique it as (basically a damn good song...) but this song has been forwarded once, and rejected at least 30 times. BUT I AM HAPPY!!! only problem is it went to a library, and since this was demo'd WAY back by a company with all union studio musicians and singers, when i checked with them a year ago, if the song is used AS IS (which libraries tend to do...) it will cost the buyer about 2500 bucks to use it--THIS IS THE LEARNING CURVE STUFF that i've been working on....but for this one a bit behind--however if it's re-recorded (as i intended orig) for a "star", i'm fine...we live and learn. now i've known this for awhile, which is why though this company (NOT jimi's) does a great job, i have not posted them to any of the libraries i'm in now. i am gunna email them again (it's a family organization in Nashville) and ask if they will work with me, but doubt it. soooo-for any of you that a bit naive on the business end, that's the real reason i'm posting this.make sure if you have work demo'd or contracted for, you know what you can and cannot do with it! most of you know this i'm sure, but we all learn at difference speeds! LOL.I'm still happy BTW...and i STILL believe this is a killer tune.it's on my website below first one you'll see...good luck to all.warren

Congratulations, Warren! I really enjoyed the song-- love the "she said" "he said" parts too-- nice little twist in the story-telling. I hope you get a call! Keep pitching this one-- someone will find it worth the price to use (or record). Congrats! Raags

You could have the whole thing re-done with master rights probably 3 times for that amount. Sometimes if you offer a one time payment and a percent of future master/sync fees, you can strike a deal. If you want to discuss some approaches, get in touch. Before you make a phone call have a good plan as to what you would say (notes in front of you) so you are not "winging it". Let me know if I can be of help.BestCasey
