Registering pseudonym with PRO

Post by TheElement » Thu May 07, 2015 4:36 pm

Hi guys,

I registered a pseudonym with my PRO and they have given me a CAE# for the pseudonym.

I have a track in a library do I have to edit the CAE# I gave them for this one if I want to use the pseudonym (I changed artist name in library to the pseudonym)

Thanks! 8-)

We talked about this on FB, and just so the others here can see, the answer was that you can put the artist name into the library upload account, and have that be the artist name, but for the writer's info, you can put your legal name and its associated CAE/IPI. IN other words, as long as the CAE/IPI corresponds with the name, you're good.

So, for "artist" you can put "THE ELEMENT", (and usually they don't ask for the CAE/IPI for artist name). But where you enter your writer's info so you can get paid via your PRO, you would put the legal name or patronym into that spot with the CAE/IPI for it. You can theoretically use the artist name for both artist and writer info, but I think it's safer to provide your legal name for PRO information.
