Publisher keeping money due to songwriters!

Post by FMstereo » Tue Jun 09, 2015 8:05 pm

I’ve got a contract for a song not directly via Taxi, but with a company Taxi deals with.

One clause that really surprised me is that if any individual synch license fee is less than a certain amount, the publisher keeps the money! Now I know that most libraries or publishers have a minimum amount that they won’t write a cheque for less than, eg $25 or $50, and they hold it on account, but I’ve never heard of the company keeping the money that the songwriter is due.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Cheers

I haven't seen that one, except as you said holding the money in an account if it's under a specified amount, and even then it would pay out at some point (annually for instance).

I just had a similar conversation a while ago
I know that SOCAN in Canada will not send a check if the amount is less than 25.00
However if you have direct deposit then you get everything.
