A return... simple change could have fixed it. :-(

Post by Paulie » Tue Jun 23, 2015 11:56 am

Screener feedback: "Thank you Paul for submitting "To see You Again", it's very close, it's very well structured, however the chimes, make the song feel like 90's throwback song, singer songwriters do not use chimes."

Ironically, I didn't have chimes in it. My wife convinced me to add them. The fix? Delete Chime Track, resubmit. :-(

ACOUSTIC BASED SINGER/SONGWRITER-STYLE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by the Music Supervisor of a very successful MTV Reality Show. He needs Down-to-Mid Tempo Instrumentals that are in the general ballpark of artists like Howie Day, Tristan Pettyman, Five for Fighting, etc., etc., etc. Please check out the following songs to get in the stylistic wheelhouse of what this Supervisor needs: “Collide” by Howie Day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca9ub9rpNK4 “I Was Gonna Marry You” by Tristan Prettyman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmZ1XXUJFIc “100 Years” by Five for Fighting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR-qQcNT_fY Note: Although the referenced songs all contain vocals, the Music Supervisor is looking strictly for Instrumentals for this pitch! Give him contemporary, full-length Instrumentals (at least 2 minutes long) that would work well for touching, heartfelt, sweet, or maybe even bittersweet scenes. Stick to organic sounding instrumentation, and avoid anything that sounds obviously synth-y and Midi-driven. Acoustic pianos or guitars with a light ensemble should work best. A central melodic theme and non-faded, buttoned endings are recommended. Broadcast Quality is needed (Great sounding home recordings are fine). This is a Direct-to-Supervisor, NON-EXCLUSIVE pitch. All deals will be made on a case-by-case basis. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions need to be submitted no later than Monday, June 15th at 11:59PM (PDT). TAXI #D150615SS

...beware those "wifey points" you mentioned... :? :shock: 8-)
...dang those singer/songwriter-types, anyway... what, no chimes?! for shame...
good luck on the re-do. :)

fwiw: influences I hear in there are Carole King, Jackson Browne, and "Layla" instrumental ending to the Clapton classic...
meant as compliments to the chef!

fwiw: I could hear a 2nd version of this done up Kenny-G style, with either clarinet or sax;
bring out the romantic elements in there.
Maybe thicken up the keys with bit of Rhodes in the background...?

ha! Silver lining, I've got a decent piano track for a future listing. Every submittal feedback gives me something new to learn. The more you submit the more you learn! 8-)
