Replacing a song on member's page

Post by mladendomic » Tue Jul 28, 2015 9:47 am

What happens if you replace ("edit") the song file (.mp3) on your member's music page - AFTER submitting that song, and BEFORE the Listing's deadline?
Which one the screener will get to listen? The old .mp3 file or the new one?

totally impossible to say for sure one way or the other.

What I discovered through experience with my own tracks and calling TAXI

1) At any time after submitting a track it may be screened, depending on Screener availability. If the screeners aren't busy they might screen your track BEFORE, or AFTER the Listing closing date and time. I asked "Why?" and the answer given was "well if you submitted it, you must have intended it to be screened".
2) Regardless of when the track in question is screened, the results will be held confidential until every track in the listing is screened. Then the results are sent to all submitters.
3) For listings where an actual critique is given (i.e. not Y/N listings) there will be no record of which version of your track was screened (if you had uploaded one and then substituted another), and the date and time of the screening isn't available.

So its up to you - most people wager that replacing a track well in advance of the listing date should guarantee the new version gets screened, and I used to assume that but I got burned once. Now I don't bother uploading another version. I just try to make the original submission as good as possible and forget about it.

As in Write, Submit, FORGET, Repeat.

Good luck.

I think you are safe for at least a few days or perhaps a week for non-Dispatch listings. I've replaced files usually 24-48 hours after the submit date because I ran out of time (family, work, etc.). This way you get in the queue and then roll the dice that they aren't screening immediately.

Have wondered the same. I added "piano solo" to the title of an already submitted song before it got forwarded and on the "certificate" it didn't have that on the track title.
