Direct to Music Sup - publishing question

Post by pike » Sat Aug 22, 2015 6:09 am

I have a direct to music sup deal for R.I.P. Files show in England. The way I understand the deal is that I get all of the royalties (writer/publishing). Do you guys know if I would get all of the royalties (BMI) without having to register the publishing portion with my PRO?

That's is the way the music sup understands it. He submitted the cue sheet with me getting all of the royalties (he is not taking a cut).

I think that is the way it works? Any input from you guys would be great thanks!

It's in the wrong category (Peer to Peer), but there was just a thread about this this week. It's here: http://forums.taxi.com/topic132160.html

congrats, btw

Yeah, I was wondering if it was in the correct category.

Thanks for posting the link!

I believe with BMI if you register yourself as 200% owner (meaning 100% writers share, 100% publishers share) you will receive both writer's and publisher's share of backend.

Yes it seems there are two ways to do it: have a publishing entity or just register your track for 200% writer/publisher.

Either way I need to take action (for direct to supervisor), unlike placing a track with a music library where you don't need to do anything (the library registers the track for you and them).

Thanks!
