I think I've angered the screener gods...

Post by Paulie » Tue Sep 01, 2015 6:22 pm

Past seven days I've received 1 forward and 17 returns. I think I need to sacrifice a goat or something.

Try virgin sacrifices to the screening gods.... 8-)

I feel your pain.... things get worse before they get better.... blah blah blah....

Seriously, though... all forward movement is NOT linear... there will be runs of returns and runs for forwards... that's just the way of it.

Hang in there, bro.

+1 what Russ said. If you do a lot of submissions you up the odds of getting a bunch of Rs. As I see it, in a situation like this, so long as I am learning something substantive by producing the Rs, it's usually worth it (plus I can rework some of the cues done already). Or else make fewer and make them more polished. You are bound to do great at this Paul, so I wouldn't get too bummed. You just started, anyway!

i would say in addition to all of the above (i.e. don't sweat the small stuff - its all small stuff):

figure out what the common screening comments are:

1)are they all production related?
2) are they mix related?
3) are they Broadcast quality (tough cause that is everything rolled into one)
4) are they not on target for genre?

if its something you can find in a number of returns, its probably there in all your submissions. You can target that stuff and work on it.

I got a birthday card recently that was inscribed
"...and many happy returns." :?
It was from a family member, not any Taxi peeps.
For the record - I'm "Owen Juan" (quoting Vin Scully). :? :) :P
Actually my record is 0-3; same song for 3 different listings: 3 swings at the same pitch!
There's probably a Yogi-ism for that: "Pair 'em up in threes".
