Rally CD content suggestions

Post by Paulie » Fri Oct 09, 2015 7:12 pm

How do you veterans organize your handout CDs? Full length versions of various genres, or a lot of shorter samples to get more genres in there? Is it unwise to put a whole bunch of genres on a CD? Or is it recommended to put your top 5-10 tracks on and point the listener to your web/soundcloud page?

I put 5-6 of my best tracks on the cd. I cover a couple genres. You could have 2 "versions" of CDs, but I like to keep things simple. I believe less is more.

Master your cd so the volume is the same for each track. Don't make your listener constantly turn the volume up and down .

Label both the jewel case and the cd with your contact info and song titles. don't hand write labels.

Keep it simple. If they want to hear more, they will ask.

yes 5-6 songs is enough. separate CD's for each genre. yes keep it simple. target the CD's to the right audience.

ok now having said all that I got 10 tracks on a CD this year as people outside Taxi wanted more last year. But if you do the one on one mentor session there will only be time for the mentor to listen to six 2 minute tracks.
