For those in the audience, I'm curious as to which type of atmosphere the open mic nights have at the rally. I've seen both of these situations....
-The audience is expected to by quiet and stare at the stage.
-More of a bar setting, where the audience is enjoying the music, but free to roam and talk to each other.
Or do people simply go to the bar if they want the bar experience?

Re: Open Mic Atmosphere
I've been to the open mic in the auditorium, and it has always been warm and supportive. Everyone has been encouraging and appreciative - its not a contest. I don't know about the other settings.

Re: Open Mic Atmosphere
the ones that I have seen have been more quiet and listen rather than the bar thing, which as you said, is right downstairs if you want that.
