I did not know that about bussing. Very cool.

People in other realms get to use modern apps, but we in the music world are often stuck using really old piles of code (except for Studio One and Reaper I guess). It's so much fun to use a modern DAW!

Just noting that I had another weird Logic pro X problem today, and it was a relatively distressing one - and definitely not operator error.

I was working on a project with about 20 24bit audio tracks and quite a few plugs. While I was nearing the finish line, I noticed balance problems I thought I had fixed (tracks suddenly blaring). When I was finished with the mix/editing/etc I did an offline render, and the same volume problem obtained. So I did a realtime render, and it was the same deal - some volume automation data was being ignored.

So, I rendered the offending tracks into new tracks, and that did work. 'Bnce' is supposed to render just what's within cycle record, but the render went on about 5 minutes longer, so I stopped the render and just edited the track. Weird.

It makes me very nervous when automation data is ignored, esp. volume. I hope it was 'just' a corrupted file...

Anybody else see this kind of behaviour?

I have Logic x and I love it
There is always a reason for weird things happening

I am also a Tracktion fan
I started out on Tracktion 1 and used it for about 5 years

It was always simple and did a great job ....because it was an at a glance all on the page DAW

'Always'? That is pretty strong, Don. Maybe in your experience that is true. I rely on Logic X (and have done for a couple decades) and use it just about everyday, but it is clearly somewhat buggy - ALL DAWs have bugs here and there, but I think LPX is a little worse than average.

I complain about it because, for one thing, they seem to have a 'one hand giveth, one hand taketh away' approach. They add new features but a.) don't always implement them fully (see Patches/Settings), and/or b.) break existing features, and/or c.) never fix bugs that have been there for years.

I don't expect perfection, and I like new features sometimes, but...most of the time you just need regular, everyday stuff (like automation) to just work, and that's where Logic X sometimes falls down. They are big on razzle dazzle, but sometimes short on workhorse stability. I don't see any reason to not call them on it.

Jonny

I have just been using Logic for about 3 years. Still learning about it.
Yes they keep on updating and there are a lot of nice things they add.
It's got so much that something is bound to go wrong
Maybe I have been lucky for the last few years. Why, because the parts of Logic I was using worked.

Right now with the latest 10.2.1 update my Roland controller transmissions don't register in Logic but outside do.
I didn't do anything different other than push the update button . So yeah I am ticked off.

But it is my experience with computers in general that there is a reason for the problem so that's why I use the term always.
If you don't give up you are most likely going to find the solution....and it might frustrate you along the way

i'm off to try and get my keyboard working

Cheers
Don
