some good sample libraries for edm are: Sample Magic, Producer Loops, reFX Vengeance. As with all sample packs some samples are good and some not so. Just got to find samples that work in your mix.

I prefer drums and fx from samplepacks. I prefer now to get most of my sounds from synths like Nexus, Spire, A.N.A., Massive, Sylenth. below in my sig there is a link to my equipment which might be worth checking out.

Have fun. EDM is a great genre to study. 8-)

I use a lot of Puremagnetik VIs. They have a lot of cool retro synths, as well as some interesting circuit bent and twisted electronics. Good prices, too.

I'm not a huge fan of the EastWest Play engine (it's very slow to load samples compared to Kontakt), but for someone in your position it might be worthwhile looking into their Composer Cloud service. It's a subscription-based service where you have access to their entire library. So for about $300 a year - less than the price of some of these other single libraries - you can use a huge library of sounds. Of course, you may need to pump up your computing power to utilize their stuff, but it's a very reasonable solution to consider.

even on MAC the latest versions of Play (V4 and above) seem to be loading much faster over here - but maybe its the SSDs

some options:

Very Realistic Piano Sample Library (piano is my favorite and most natural instrument to play so I don't want to cut corners here)

planos in Komplete Ultimate 10 are a good start but some of them are not really great.
Sampletekk pianos are great
EW Pianos still get used quite a bit over here.

Realistic Orchestra Library (basic orchestra instruments)

you are probably looking at an all-in-one package for this as spending $$ for dedicated strings, ww, brass, perch can get expensive. Although as Steve B said you can get the East West stuff for cheap.

It would be worthwhile to check out the Spitfire Albion series.

Realistiic Drums and Bass for pop, rock, and blues

you didn't mention which DAW you are using - if its Logic I would completely explore the Drummer plugin before spending anything on third party libraries. Its pretty deep with functions / ease of use and it sounds great.

other than that, "realistic" drums are available everywhere and in many cases its more up to you to program and mix them effectively so they sound like a "real performance".

Addictive Drums
EZ Drummer
Superior Drummer
Native Instruments drummer series in Komplete Ultimate 10 (about 5 or 6 different types of sounds)
BFD3
etc

EDM library

Gavin mentioned a few that he uses and he's done great work.

in addition there are the rest of the synths in Komplete Ultimate 10 besides Massive
the U-he stuff
Rob Papen stuff
8dio EDM specific range
Omnispehre 2
etc.
