another EDM/deep house track to try to fit that listing

Post by JamesCarvalho » Sun Dec 13, 2015 9:47 am

https://soundcloud.com/jamescarvalhomus ... der-boogie

kind of a star wars themed .. called "darth vader boogie"

ELECTRONIC “DEEP HOUSE” INSTRUMENTALS are needed for $1,000 NON-Exclusive placements by the Music Supervisor of an Award Winning Netflix TV Series. They’re looking for hip, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could be found on the same playlist as acts like Disclosure, Jamie XX, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, etc., etc., etc. Please review the following references to get yourself into the sound and style of what they’re looking for:
“Holding On” by Disclosure:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVN6FqPpChQ
“SeeSaw” by Jamie XX:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-C-pOR6QP4
“Garden” by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39BirET8OIg
Quoting the source: “Looking for Deep House Instrumentals to play as source at an art opening party. Should be in the vein of Disclosure and Jamie XX. Energetic, but in the House style - NOT current EDM.”
Give them trendy, metropolitan-sounding Instrumentals that you’d expect to hear when walking into a hoity-toity art gallery showing. Your submissions should have a similar aesthetic to the references above, with tight rhythmic beats coupled with innovative melodic elements. Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced tracks in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Tracks that are easy to edit will make the Supervisor and editors love your work. Because these will be used as background source music, buttoned/stinger endings are NOT requested for this listing. If your pieces already have them, don’t sweat it. We think they’ll be doing cross-dissolves between songs and scenes, and the songs’ endings will never get heard wink emoticon
The estimated license fee for this use is $1,000. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll get 100% of the sync fee, and you’ll keep 100% of your Master Recording and Publishing. You must own or control the Master Recording and the Composition to pitch for this opportunity. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a Music Coordinator working on the show. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Instrumentals online or per CD no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Thursday, December 17th, 2015. TAXI ‪#‎U151217DH‬

Your track has definitely that house vibe I think.. Im trying do submission to this listing as well and at the moment struggling to generate those rich house chord progressions that are so central in this genre, at least in those reference tracks.. not easy task!

That's a pretty sweet track. I think it fits the listing well. Maybe could be a bit darker? not really sure.

The one question that comes to my mind when listening to this sweet track, is that there is no central theme or melody. The listing asks for innovative melodic elements. I think it rocks, but I'm not a screener. :)

sometimes, i'm not sure how much the submission should be exactly like everything in the
description.. (this has always frustrated me) thats a fair observation paulie.

although what makes me stay creative is to try to stay true to the genre..(and try not overthink it)
i picture a large crowd dancing and write to my scene..

also i've learned to make it not to busy as to not distract from a dialog.
this is a new approach for me .. maybe it not completly right for this pitch
i guess i'll find out .. maybe they will give feedback
anyway, i just dig the groove so i sent it in...i guess i'll lose 10 bucks..

i have been trying to get this "CUE thing" down for a while.. these 2minute thingys were tough to
do for me at first, i came from a world where EDM tracks went for 6minutes.

as i remember deep house it was repetitive with subtle changes , no rises, or drops, it seems to go on forever
slightly hypnotic.. it wasnt my favorite as a dj, but, the after hours clubs in
Florida played it quit a bit for the druggies..

anyway this was my interpretation for "CUE" style deep house style EDM
