Bank Robbing Pop Ballad

Post by Bilium » Thu Dec 17, 2015 5:11 am

I know this is the song I would like to plan a robbery with -

"Let Me Down Easy" - I like this song and obviously hope it does well - I think it does reflect a 70's pop ballad but I wonder if the vocals sit back - any and all feedback much appreciated - very thick skinned so let me have it

1970’s-style POP BALLADS with Male Vocals are needed for a NON-Exclusive placement by the Music Supervisor of an upcoming Independent Film that will be released at the Sundance Film Festival. They’re looking for timeless-sounding, Down-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of legendary artists like Elton John, Peter Frampton, Eric Clapton, etc., etc., etc. Please review the following references to get in the wheelhouse of what they’re looking for: “Your Song” by Elton John: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13GD78Bmo8s “Baby I Love Your Way” by Peter Frampton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0nc-hh9viQ “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl7Hd2r0LOs Quoting the source: “This will be played on the radio in the background as two characters talk about robbing a bank. Anything with a believable ‘70s ballad feel will be great. The song should be Down-Tempo with vocals the sit nicely in the background.”

Hey Bilium

Very nice song. I think that it fits the listing very well. The only picky thing to me, might be the occasional ( jazz like chords ) I hear. Which sound great to me, but might be a little too sophisticated for the 70's. I love the ( Foot In Cold Water ) lead solo :)

Anyway, I still think it is worth a shot. It really captures the vibe.

Good luck

Tom

Thanks songmaster - we must be the same vintage - the solo to "Make Me Do" came to mind as I contemplated what to put in there.

Simplicity is sometimes a difficult target to hit - I appreciate the comments

I like song, the mood that the verses set is really strong. I can hear that being played in the background of a film. Although I found myself thinking about a romantic film where things go wrong in the middle before the couple get back together again at the end. Good luck with the pitch and in my humble opinion you could also pitch it again one day for a film like I just described. PS this is my first time on the forum I tried to review your song an hour or so ago but I think I pressed the wrong button or something, which is why you have a previous blank review from me above.

Good Luck

Bill,

I think all the vocals are spot on for the 70's vibe, especially the chorus. The mix of the instruments sound more like a live band than a studio band - I think it's the drum mix. This is really reminiscent of all the tunes on Joe Walsh ...But Seriously Folks (a great album BTW) which is from 1978, so maybe check that out as an A/B.

Good luck with it.

John

Hi I got beat to the Joe Walsh comparison. You can really sing man. Especially those high notes. Really liked all of the song. I say film??

Good luck

sincerely
