I was at around 25% until a month ago. I'm down around 20% now, but the good thing is that my tracks are getting better each month.
Update, FWIW, I'm back to 25%, despite my streak of 32 straight returns over a two month stretch. Fortunately, my returns now have more to do with style or missing the target of the listing instead of earlier tracks that had mixing problems. #Learning :P

And 1 signing generated from this year's forwards...
for 6% of my forwarded listings.

Russell
Thanks everyone for this post, it's a real insight for someone still working on their first forward!

Sorry to use you as an example, Russell, but I have heard your instros, and they are very high quality (so you make a good example ;) )
Your forward rate sounds very impressive, it makes me think with some hard work I have a great shot at getting some forwards!
But do you mean despite all of your forwards, you have only had one piece of music used in 2015? Or have I misunderstood?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve.
Thanks :D

The one signing was for three of the cues that TAXI forwarded to that Library. I have since written and signed many more to that library.

Over the past two years I've signed about 350 tracks to the libraries I've got contracts with because of TAXI forwards. From April 2014 - June 2015, seven of my cues have been used on MTV's Catfish the TV Show, and one on HBO's VICE, generating a total of low 4-figure royalties over that time. I'm aware of more placements on other shows since then, but since I'm BMI, it will take a while to find out exactly what they are.

You are correct, sir, to understand that it takes work. I would say that it takes STEADY work. Concentrate on the Quality and detail-targeting the listings. If you do this steadily, the quantity will follow... so will the publisher contracts and TV placements.

Ah ok, so one signing could mean many cues accepted by the library!
Congratulations! That sounds like a great success!
Good to know that one successful cue could open up the door to the library taking many more cues.
And thanks for the info, it's great to know what to be aiming for!

Joined November 2015.

6 returns 1 forward. So that works out to a 14% forward rate.

Joined August 2015 and got 9 forwards out of 58 submission (14,5%)
and 1 placement in library (1,6%)

4 submissions are still pending for 2015,
so they could change the percentage to the better or worse
