Composer Catalog

Post by ComposerLDG » Thu Jan 28, 2016 7:03 am

Ok, after messing with Numbers spreadsheets and Google Docs, I finally found Composer Catalog and immediately knew this was what I needed. Great database for keeping songs and their administration organized.

I think I may have to bite the bullet. It's been almost a year and I just now got all of my tracks organized in folders and in iTunes. The longer I wait, the more pain it will be to input everything. :)

So far, I find it well worth it. Easily enter all the metadata, composers and publishers, where and if a track is signed, and even attach the audio for it.

I still keep a spreadsheet to keep track of Taxi submissions, forwards, returns, etc., but this is great for keeping the catalog organized.

As you probably know, Composer Catalog was developed by Keith LuBrant, a very successful TAXI member.

Getting this up and running early in the catalog building process will really pay off down the road. I am in the process of entering the data on over 1200 cues registered in my BMI account. I may be done by the Rally in 2025!!

Thanks Keith for a great tool. (I just wish I had it seven or eight years ago :D )

Yikes, Chuck! Yeah, that's gonna take some time! Ah well, at least you're started!

Btw, I love your Duke Ellington quote in your sig line.

+1 for Composer Catalog. I got a few months ago. I wish it was around when I first started pitching to film and TV cause it took me a few days to upload all my information for over 350 tracks, but glad I got it now. It's super handy.

Yes, very good software. i have it running in the background most of the time. Very happy with it. Worth the investment.

Methinks I'll have to get this. The googledocs and Excel spreadsheets are cumbersome.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys!

I am currently working on a data export feature. This will allow you to get data out via CSV file.
It will be a free update.

Thanks again!
