no sound from midi-keyboard

suddenly i can't get any sound into my sonar 8.0 from either my yamaha keyboard or my m-audio midi keyboard. i've tried everything, restarting devices and computer, changing ports, checking the sonar settings etc. nothing helps. i wonder if i should try reinstalling the sonar, upgrade to a newer sonar, or replace my 7-year old pc laptop. any suggestions?

Probably won't help but un-plugging and re-plugging the usb power to my Evolution midi keyboard has got me out of similar trouble before.

It could be that the computer isn't seeing the devices. Is there a midi setup in windows?

Because you said suddenly, I assume everything worked fine before.

Before you do anything radical,lol, open an old project where the midi did work, see if the keyboards work there, if so, write down all of your midi settings, etc., and compare them to the new project the midi isn't working.

I'm always losing sound when I switch to Windows Media Player to listen to a track. I got to unplug and then plug back in my USB for my NI Komplete Audio6 Interface. I'm running Windows 7.

Its not a big deal but one day I'll either get a new audio interface and or another computer.
