Logic X: Moving Animation data when deleting sections?
When I delete measures or sections from projects the animation data does not move in sync with the other data that moves. For example: If I delete the first eight measures of a project, all of the music and audio moves to the left to start at bar 1, but the animation data does not, so everything is off by eight bars. Is there a command somewhere to link animation to bars?

Do you mean automation instead of animation?
I don't use Logic, but from what I can gather, make sure automation is visible when selecting what to move, delete or copy and using the marquee tool, include the automation data in the lasso. Also I think the marquee tool has options in the preferences folder. hth

Not a Logic user, but yeah, there should be a command to lock automation data to bars/beats.

email me a screen shot of before and after including the key command or menu command you used.Paulie wrote:When I delete measures or sections from projects the animation data does not move in sync with the other data that moves. there is a way to do it and it always moves the AUTOMATION data. Depends how you did it.
Caveat: when they update to newer versions they often tinker with other stuff and sometimes they good up royally. 10.2.1 seems solid so far as far as AUTOMATION.

Hey Paul - the easiest way to deal with automation data in Logic for me is to make the automation data region-based. Then your automation data is always tied to the region. If you move the region, the auto data moves with it. When you subdivide a region, the automation doesn't change, and still moves with each regions. When you open the automation editor (I think it's just 'a' by default), you see a blue button in the track header that toggles between 'Track' and 'Region'.
I know this is not good for every situation, but for everyday stuff I find it works well. Apparently, you have long been able to do this, but - so typical of Logic - it was some sort of secret. Now they put a nice big button right there on the header.
Or, you can context click when you are in 'Track Automation' mode and turn on 'Always move track automation with regions'. But TRACK and REGION automation data sets are discrete, so you can have both track and region automation if you want.
