What are you working on, Mac, PC and what's your DAW? Can you use soundfonts?

Eastwest makes some pretty affordable stuff considering what you get. Then again, "Affordable" can be interpreted differently by many.

It works on a Play engine that can be incorporated into any VST compatable DAW.

Great Live Drum samples, very inexpensive, IOS app.

And Garageband (IOS) has a virtual drummer which is really cool. You could use it, and export to your DAW.

You can also search for news on your favorite music software developers and read online reviews of every kind of DAW and plugin; it's pretty much a one-stop shop for that kinda thing.
