Tip sheets that truly list what artists are recording when

Post by geercom7 » Fri Mar 18, 2016 6:38 am

I know there are tip sheets that show who to pitch to when, but what tip sheets name the artists along with that?

Usually these type of things come from publishers but it's not accessible or public information. You need to know someone at the publishing company.

Yes, there are tipsheets; many of them (certainly not all) will charge you money for opportunities scraped from Taxi emails that are free for a signup. Buyer beware. That said, there are legit ones, some that charge and some that come free with your relationship with a publisher or library, but if you don't have that, you can read Variety, Billboard, Cashbox, etc. to learn about shooting/release schedules for TV shows and major motion pictures, and for the really major music artists, it's not at all difficult to learn when they've come off tour or are due for a new release. I'd point you to an outlet, but I'm really not sure which is the best place to start; however, if you follow a given artist on Twitter, you'll likely know when they need new material.
