There are lots of good options for budget LDCs and SDCs, just not that many tube mics, under $1000USD. If I thought I needed a tube mic, (that I wouldn't need to modify) I'd look at Mojave and ADK. the Apex isn't all that bad, BTW, and there's a mod for it, LOL

I agree, the sweet spot for budget tube mics is probably going to start at $1000. Telefunken rft, Peluso, Pearlman are probably a few more nice budget tube mics.

I went shopping, lol, and found this deal, it's a demo for $150 off,

oh, and the mic mission is on also, lol
Spend $1000 or more - Receive a Vintage King Gold Series Studio Microphone Cable - 25' ($49.99 Value) and a K&M 210/9 Microphone Stand - Black ($84.99 Value). A total savings value of $134.98.

The Telefunken Copperhead is $1395, and it's only cardioid. The Peluso has 9 polar patterns, much like the $2000 Telefunken rft series.

Anyway, just sayin' lol

Hi Len,

Thanks for the articles.

I would still need a pre-amp of some kind. I'm not distorting anything. I would be scared to break something. :)

This might have been what Mojo was implying when he was talking about the merits of solid state.

I'm probably not going to tweak this particular project in post-production. What I record is what I get.

I will keep my eye on when the tubes were made.

Thanks!

Andy, I have to make one of those dynamic mics from a kit before I start rearranging tube mics! :)
