Sound effects Plugins?

Post by AhjayStelino » Fri Apr 01, 2016 4:49 pm

Which sound effects plugins do you all use?

For natural sounds: rain, water, wind, etc
For manmade sounds: doors, cars, etc
For sounds fx: whooshing sounds, funny sounds; etc.

I have some upcoming projects where the client wants these sounds in addition to the music composition so I thought I'll ask the experts at the Taxi forum for some help!

Thanks,
Ahjay

Believe it or don't, but I theenk most of us don't use sound effects; when you're doing stuff for TV and film, someone else nearly always adds that, later in the process; even scoring folks don't bother, cuz that stuff all happens in post-production. There are products available in almost every price range, but for quality and completeness, I'd take a look at the Frank Serafine collection. It's a bit long in the tooth, these days, but the price has steadily become more flexible. Here are a couple of options:

There may also be a couple of retailers that offer the same sounds a la carte, in cut-down versions or on a subscription basis, you'll have to google for yourself. In addition to one-shot sound effects, you might also want to look at environmental loop collections/kits. HTH

Thanks! It's good to know the go-to plugin collection. The full set is a bit on the pricey side so I'll explore the cut down versions.

I have a little Zoom H1 stereo recorder which was pretty cheap but I have recorded some ambience sounds with it..aircon noise, rain, hail on the garage door, etc. and they work a treat when you just blend them into the background. It's strange how "flat" the track sounds if you mute it again.

That's good to keep in mind. It's hard to find good music from all the production libabry tracks out there and I have a little recorder! Thanks

Actually his individual tracks are only $2.99 which is pretty cheap for the quality he offers, so thanks I think I will use a few of his tracks!

Yes it is and I especially like the range of sounds and specific details he goes into, eg rain on a tin roof, rain on a street etc. it's cool!
