Joined at the end of January and 19 submissions made, 8 forwards and one Library just got in touch yesterday. Forward rate seems to hover around 35-40% overall.

3 forwards from 10 submissions in February

5 so far from 10 Submission in March

It's going to be at least 50% for March's submissions with one more to hear back so it could be as high as 60% for last month which would be epic. I think it helps that there's 2 of of us doing it together and we can critique stuff a bit more objectively before it goes out.

I am into my 3rd year, about 60 entries... and I am at 100%... every one rejected. Just like my high school dating career :(

Sorry to hear that. Have you used the Peer to Peer thread before submitting?

72+ submissions in 4 months? I stand in awe of your rate of production!

I was the same until very recently. What's your approach to listings? It took me a while to realise:

(1) I'm no longer very good at writing the kind of stuff I listen to recreationally

(2) I need to treat this with the same care and attention that I give to my first profession - I'd been treating it like a hobby before.

Those to tweaks changed things dramatically for me.

It took me about a week to realise that virtually nothing I had written up to this point in the past 20 years would be what any of these listings needed. I've started listening to a lot more contemporary music and not just the new albums of bands I liked 20 years ago.

Every piece is brand new with plenty of listening to the "A La's" , I've also taken to listening to other tracks by the artists to help me "get it "..and also reading the Wiki of many of the bands or music styles I'm familiar with to help understand where it came from and why it sounds like it does.

So just as a reminder to myself, as an encouragement to people who look at these ratios and despair - last time I posted (early this month) I was hitting about 54%; after five returns I'm down to 44%. I know that looks like humblebrag, but the point is that while these ratios can be helpful as a proxy for the quality of your writing, mixing and your targeting, the reality is that it doesn't take much to change the numbers. Write, submit ...
