CONTEMPORARY RAP/HIP-HOP INSTRUMENTAL- Does this work for u?
Hi all,
This is my first peer-to-peer posting. Just wondering if you feel like this would hit the mark for this listing. Thanks in advance for your comments!
Bill
Here's my track:
https://soundcloud.com/user-860146023/c ... ighborhood
Here's the listing:
CONTEMPORARY RAP/HIP-HOP INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a 5-Star Music Library with an amazing history of great placements in Big Budget Films, Top TV Shows, and loads of TV Commercials. They've only recently started running Listings with TAXI, so this a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor and start building a relationship with this Top-Tier company that pays up front fees! They want fresh, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues in the general stylistic ballpark of artists like (but not limited to):WARNING: Some of the following references have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised."Maybach" by

Although the references have lyrics and vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch.
Please submit great Cues that have an authentic, fresh, and current Rap/Hip-Hop sound and style, with a rhythmically engaging approach. Your submissions should be based on a central melodic theme, while developing as it progresses by adding and subtracting instruments to add dynamics, forward momentum and keep it from sounding too repetitive or linear.
Your submissions should be 2:00 to 2:30 minutes long. Short intros (or no intro at all), and Buttoned/Stinger endings are strongly recommended. If your material is selected by the company: they will ultimately ask you for alt mixes, cutdowns, and stems.
Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Writers will be compensated with an UP FRONT fee (typically in the $200 - $500 per track range) that will be based on quality and overall marketability.
This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, so please be sure the Cues you submit to this pitch are NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit to this pitch.
Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Friday, June 24th, 2016. TAXI #Y160624HC

Re: CONTEMPORARY RAP/HIP-HOP INSTRUMENTAL- Does this work fo
Hello Bill! Welcome to the forums! I would say your track has a more "west coast" vibe. Whereas the listing is looking for more of a southern-trap style. Usually tempos between 130-150ish. Doubled timed. Very fast 32nd note hi-hats...deep thumping 808s..and very current modern, sometimes even creepy synth patches. I like the electric guitar parts you have - and that mixed with the high synth is what's giving me that west coast G Funk vibe. I've seen postings looking for west coast beats and this may very well be a good candidate when one comes back around.

I agree with Marcus, plus the snare sample doesn't read for the genre.
Some of the leads sound too busy, clean and dry.
Good start!!
All the best.

Hi Bill,
I'll have to disagree with most of the above. The bpm seems about right. I don't hear southern-style trap in the reference tracks, although your snare could be different. the kicks and basses are OK. The actual melody could be better. The synth hits the mark.
With this style, I believe the term "fresh-sounding" is VERY important. you gotta remember, there is a LOT of competition on here. Your shit HAS to be tight!

I definitely like the track. I just think style-wise it's a bit off. Definitely hip-hop, but not exactly what the listing is looking for. I think if u start a new drum track around the alas tempo, use a new snare like craig and burpo said. (808 claps and snares are popular) And also add some crazy hihats and 808 sub boom bass. With your knowledge of music you will find some nice melodies to work at that speed.. hope this helps a little bit. This genre is my bread and butterCraigR wrote:Hi Bill,

Just to help:
Your track tempo is around 94
The examples are about:
#1- 143bpm
#2 - 158 bpm
#3 - 155 bpm
If it helps at all you can check out the instrumentals on my taxi page. They have all been forwarded more than once. I have a few on there right in this style.
