Re: Adding your catalogue/ licensing platform on your websit
thank you for your answer Owen.ochaim wrote:Hey Edmond,
Just wanted to share a revamp of my site that includes some of the features you mentioned. perhaps i should have had this done professionally but i just needed something simple and straight forward that doesnt depend on soundcloud.
http://www.owenchaim.com
I used wordpress and a free theme (template) that i customized using css.
The audio player, waveplayer, i had to buy. there is a free version of it but it looks really ugly. it cost $16.
I also used a wordpress plugin to include "tags" in each track/post. but you can call the tracks anything you want whether it be keywords, moods, etc.
there is a search function but i'm thinking unless you have a way to handle search terms semantically, any seaches for terms not in the track post or tags will show zero results. ie. search wont show tracks with related keywords.
so instead i have whats called a "tag cloud" in the right sidebar so you can look through there for a keyword that might work.
hope this helps.
Your site looks quite good and well balanced. Thumbs up. I've been contemplating WP for some time now, but I'm not sure I'd be able to manage all the technicalities of switching sites. I'm with bandzoogle now, and -although they have an amazing support- the platform lacks a bit of under the hood tweaks and stuff.
The cloud tags is interesting as well,
again thanks for your post

check out tunebud.com
looks like what you're looking for, edmond. its advertised as a platform for publishers to display their libraries. the free account allows up to 25 tracks.

Your site update looks real nice, Owen! Very clean. Big improvement.
Edmond, I just use SoundCloud playlists and embed them into my website. There's no search functionality or anything, but you can still arrange them in a way that makes sense to you. You can check out how I did it here: www.vanderboegh.com.
I used a WordPress premium template, which cost something like $50. Still, not bad for a business expense!

Will check tunebud.. thanks for the tip Owen.
Matt, I've already checked your site
not that I'm a stalker, but your site was suggested earlier by Paulie.
I liked it a lot, since it's simple and straight to the point
well done!
but personally, I don't like to host my tracks somewhere not within my control, as HB said earlier..

Hello all. Great thread. I looked through some of the sites and discussion and am wondering a couple of things.edmondredd wrote:but personally, I don't like to host my tracks somewhere not within my control, as HB said earlier..
options...options![]()
1. I've heard that as soon as you post a song online (even just on your own site and under your control) it's published, so what would be the positive and negative of having it on SoundCloud?
2. How does the Exclusive/Non-Exclusive aspect factor into the songs you guys post on your sites? I run into the problem that all of my songs that I would like to show off are either already in an exclusive library or I am trying to eventually get them in one and don't want to mess with the possibility of doing that.

Re: Adding your catalogue/ licensing platform on your websit
I'm not sure about the wordings in here, but IMO there are no apparent issues of posting your cues on SC, a part the fact from I, personally, would prefer to have it hosted somewhere I know. I mean, for example, imagine if SC for some reason is taken down.. all your data and work would disappear, I'm not saying that you're "safer" if you keep them on your website, but that's one way of seeing it.benharris wrote: 1. I had this issue sometime before, and I got an amazing advice from the community in here: email the library you're dealing with and check if you can post your already signed cues to SC. It's a case by case, so no generic answers, I guessbenharris wrote: 2. How does the Exclusive/Non-Exclusive aspect factor into the songs you guys post on your sites? Re: Adding your catalogue/ licensing platform on your websit
well I did go through the revamp, and it was actually easier than I would expect it. There is always room for improvement, but I finally opted for the built-in player provided by the site itself, and with a bit of tweaks made several "playlists" on the same page.
I'm keeping the soundcloud playlists private, just in a case some asks for a SC only link.
That's it for now,
and thank you all for all your valuable input
