What is this song? Please help!

Before I work any more on this tune, could someone please listen this (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4ab0 ... VBUajRlNGc) and see if it sounds like something out there? One of my worst fears is that I'll compose a tune that sounds exactly like something else out there. Being influenced by so many genres, I never know for certain if something I compose is entirely original or something I'm unknowingly pulling from memory. And for some reason I can't shake that this is an existing song.

Hi Brian,

Nice piece. It doesn't remind me of anything but there's a big world of music out there. Every songwriter and composer gets that feeling from time to time. Seems that the simpler the tune, the more it makes you wonder. And, if by chance it happens, what can you do but move on and write something else. Don't fret to much over it.

When someone makes a great cake from scratch, is that cake a stolen recipe? Of course not.

What I've found is that good music actually takes from other music and adds a special sauce to it.

Take "4-5 seconds" by Paul McCartney (it's a recent pop song). Compare that to "Slippin' into the Lava" by the Jonas Brothers. The choruses are VERY similar, but I asked some friends and they thought the two sounded very different. Why? The average ear hears the instruments/voice and the arrangement FIRST, and the melody's similarity to other melodies (the part you're worried about) last.

If you're worried about being sued, keep in mind that's not gonna happen unless you achieve a hit with the song.

You got nothing to worry about; and honestly that doesn't sound particularly similar to anything anyways.
