Pitching music that has already been self-released?

Post by magill » Thu Aug 18, 2016 12:33 pm

I assume this must come up fairly often, but I can't find an answer. Apologies if I'm missing the obvious.

If I have self-released material (e.g. via CD Baby or Distrokid) which I still retain full ownership over, can I still pitch those songs on Taxi? What about songs that have been on Soundcloud, but never officially "released"?

As long as the listing is non-exclusive, sure, I do it all the time. A few libraries have even allowed me to put exclusive tracks on an album released to the public but... that is usually the exception.

Don't quote me but...
If you signed up with CD Baby Pro and have them as a 10% Publisher (managing the music to I-tunes/Spotify etc...) you can't.
