I walked in that rowdy, Houston bar,
With my Hohner harp and old guitar
Dusty cowboy boots and dark, black leather vest
They said weekdays I’d be paid in cash,
Saturdays I’m paid with sour mash
For my songs of traveling and loneliness

I remember sev’ral weeks ago
She was list’ning to my midnight show
Then she stayed there after closing time
And we shared a dance that seemed to rhyme

Now, somehow in the night I feel her falling for me
Yes, I feel her magic kisses calling for me
We’re so good together and I wonder whether
It’s getting serious
She loves dreaming with her fingertips on my chest
She loves to awaken with my lips on her breast
O but is it only just because she’s lonely
And I’m mysterious

Some say I did time in Alabam’,
Some say four tours in Afghanistan
Put the blue ghosts in the melodies I sing
I’ll lay quiet after we’ve made love,
And she’ll ask me what I’m thinkin’ of
Cos my distant eyes do not reveal a thing

And she’ll whisper to me in the night
Then she’ll touch the scar on my left side
But my haunted silence seems to say
That my secret’s in the songs I play

Ahh, cause I was like wow... back when I was on the forum regularly this sort of stuff would piss people off rather than garner their love and attention, and of course critiques which is the goal.
