MK said : "Sorry, you're going to have to get either creative or married"Now THAT made me LOL! Pretty-much narrows down my choices, huh?I started my Google search earlier today. Should I happen to "unearth" the ultimate dynamo solution, I shall share. I wonder what Michael would suggest!?!?

How about,"Hey You-who-say-it-best-when-you-say-nothing-at-all"Nah, nevermind - that one might backfire ;-)d

I should have added one vital point here. This is not about how I address her. I call her honey or babe. This is about how I introduce her to other people. As in, "This is my Girlfriend, Janet". This is my...Honey Pie Sugar Pie, Janet Ann! haha.... That would be great too. But I am still in quest of fire.... that ultimate "proper" phrase! I want to thank ALLLLLL of you who are participating. Even if this topic may appear silly to some, it really IS important to me, largely because she prefers to be socially-appropriate....and I am all about making her happy!

Re: I could use some community input
HEY ROBBIE--trust me on this, PARTNER when they see her will be the obvious choice--i'm on the "left coast", lots of gay/lesbian relationships i've known, but sometimes i introduce my WIFE as "this is my wife and partner..." or "this is the love of my life", and so on...ok folks, stop LAUGHING DAMMIT! and i always have a sly and rye smile when i say it, so EVERYBODY is comfortable. i've even used "this is my bride..." and that works, but if you're not going to be "married" in any way or form, that won't work.. hey, and ok, i'm not as wack as some of the quacks around here may think, (from what i gather many don't know crap about relationships anyway...whoops...so i'll ask this:WHY THE HELL DON'T YOU MARRY HER? there are many cool ceremonies, hell, you can even do it privately yourselves, make it "legal" or just you guys...than you can (if you want, ) intro her as your wife--or then better yet, "this is my love..." which ALWAYS works for ANYTHING!!so, long winded as usual, "this is my love, Janet", is the EASY way out of your predicament...take it from an old social worker and former handsome guy that used to be able to charm with the best of 'em..., this will not only work for the folks "out there", but i'll bet you a virtual beer or a glass of quality wine that she would feel DAMNED GOOD about an intro similar to the "my love" one......you're welcome...LOL...unless she hates the idea....then you'll be introducing her as "my former good friend..." HA!the best,warren

Whats wrong with just introducing her by her name..? If she was my wife i would say; this is my wife, such and such.If she was a 'just a friend', i would naturally introduce her as; this is my friend "such and such". If she was my sister, i would say; this is my sister, such and such.But i usually end up saying; ''This is....hey what was you're name again?'' {chuckle}

How 'bout this is "whom to call in case of an emergency" or this is "my other source of income" or this is "my beneficiary".

Re: I could use some community input
I refer to my gal as "my smokin' hot babe". Coincidentally, she is eight years my senior. (I do not refer to her as a smokin' hot senior) I also often refer to other women as 'smokin' hot babes', but they are not my smokin' hot babe. I used to refer to her as "my best gal", but she didn't cotton much to that, go figure. (incidentally, I use lots of winkies in my internet posts, so she generally refers to me as "the big winker"-give or take a letter) @ elser: yeah, those sound much better than "meal ticket".

Re: I could use some community input
You guys and gals are such a hoot! Southpaw suggested...why not just introduce her by her name, as in.. "This is Janet". But I have also come to realize that, whenever a person introduces a person TO me, there's always some tag attached to their name, like a prefix. For example, "This is my sister Janet. This is my cousin Janet. This is my co-worker, Janet." So basically, an introduction is always prefaced by a "description of relationship". That has been MY experience in life. Whatever the case, this thread has led to some intriguing replies. I shall tune in on Thursday to see if anyone has added to this thread. Thank you all!!!
