Questions about Taxi's Listings, Publishers and PRO

Post by jeralddrai » Wed Mar 01, 2017 1:35 am

Hello everyone !

I have two (silly ?) questions to be sure to avoid mistakes by participating to the Taxi's listings.
(and sorry if the questions have already been asked !)

1) Can I submit to a listing with a track who has already been deposited to my PRO (The French Sacem for me) ?
(could be a problem for the publishers or not ?)

2) Can i submit to a "direct-to-supervisor" placement with a track who has already been signed with a publisher (50/50) ?
(and with or without telling him ?)

Thank you very much for your nice answers ! :D

- I believe you can, assuming the track is not already signed or is signed non-exclusively. Bear in mind they will either have to retitle the track and register it, or change the current registration, in order that they may get the publishing.

- Depends on your deal. If it's exclusive, no. If it's non-exclusive, yes, and in that case you may want to retitle it slightly so the backend of the new deal goes to the proper parties. You don't need to tell a non-exclusive publisher if you pitch or sign the track elsewhere but you should keep good track of where your song/instrumental is signed, what the title is, and whether that's Excl or Non-excl, for your reference.
